James Stern, Associate Professor of Violin, has been awarded a General Research Board (GRB) Summer Award to prepare performances of selected compositions for violin and piano by Franz Schubert. Stern will then present the works in recital, performing on both instruments. As part of his preparation, Stern will also research the historical and literary context in which these performances would have taken place for the purpose of re-creating the cultural experience in his recital.
