    Aeolus Quartet tours China
    From September 7-17, the newly-arrived Aeolus Quartet toured in China at the invitation of the Wu Promotion, a premier performing arts advocacy and event scheduling group based in Beijing.

    SIREN, UMD's Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet, debuts with an all-American program.
    SIREN, the UMD School of Music's newly formed Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet, gives their debut concert, Red, White, and NEW, on December 6, 8PM in Gildenhorn Recital Hall at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. This electrifying program features music from 20th Century American composers, including Irving Fine, Elliott Carter, Samuel Barber, and Valerie Coleman.

    Saxophone performance major Nicole Tallon advances to National Round of MTNA Young Artist Competition
    Nicole Tallon, a senior saxophone performance major in Connie Frigo's studio, has advanced to the National Round of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Competition, held in Milwaukee, WI, on March 28. In November and January, respectively, she won first prize in both the state and regional levels of this competition, allowing her to now compete against the six other regional winners from across the U.S.

    Grad Student Reaches Bassoon Competition Finals
    First-year Master's student Samantha Brenner was selected as a finalist in the 2007 Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, for women bassoonists from the Americas under the age of 24. Finals will be held at the International Double Reed Society convention in Ithaca this June.

    Undergrad Wins Prize at Trumpet Competition
    Justin Bland, BM student of Steve Hendrickson and Chris Gekker, was a prize-winner in the Historic Instrument Division of the National Trumpet Competition, held March 15-18. For Solo Performance on Natural Trumpet, he was awarded a scholarship to the Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin, held for two weeks this summer.
