UMD SUMMER CHORUS

UMD Summer Chorus is offered to anyone in high school or above who likes to sing — with no audition required! Attendees include potential and current School of Music students, school alumni and members of the community.

There will be no UMD Summer Chorus in 2020. Please check back for 2021 dates.

For three weeks in June and/or July, UMD Summer Chorus rehearses and performs a major choral work with a professional orchestra and soloists. Led by one or more of the talented graduate students in the choral conducting program, past performances have included Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse, Duruflé’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

In 2019, the UMD Summer Chorus presented an evening of sacred masterworks from the late 18th century led by graduate student conductors Minji Kim and Kathryn Hylton. The concert featured Mozart's expressive psalm settings of the Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339, and the beloved Mass in B-flat Major (Kleine Orgelmesse/Little Organ Mass) by Haydn.
