Maryland Clarinet Society "ROSE-A-THON"

School of Music Friday, October 29, 2021 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm , Online Event

Join the Maryland Clarinet Society and friends as they perform Cyrille Rose’s 32 etudes in their entirety!

Based on oboe studies composed by Franz Wilhelm Ferling, Cyrille Rose’s 32 Etudes have been a staple of clarinet study for a century and a half. Clarinetists around the world use these pieces to practice musical ideas, and this recital will bring the etudes out of the practice room and onto the stage.

This online broadcast event will feature performances from students of Robert DiLutis at the UMD Clarinet Studio as well as from professional clarinetists across the country, including:

Joseph Beverly, third and bass clarinet, The Florida Orchestra
Dan Gilbert, associate professor of clarinet, University of Michigan
Julia Heinen, professor of clarinet, California State University, Northridge
Lin Ma, principal clarinet, National Symphony Orchestra
Sean Osborn, composer and clarinetist
Ken Peplowski, international jazz artist
Sara Reese, third and bass clarinet, Richmond Symphony
Angela Shankar, clarinetist, Radio City Music Hall Orchestra
YaoGuang Zhai, principal clarinet, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

Tickets are available for a donation to the Maryland Clarinet Society (suggested amount $25). Proceeds will go to support the society's upcoming trip to Austria in May 2022.
