ABOUT THE EVENT
Caitlin Cribbs, viola, and Zoe Kushubar, violin, perform two Sinfonie Concertanti by Stamitz and Mozart on historical instruments with a period orchestra at A=430. Both pieces are presented in the scordatura versions as originally written. The solo viola tunes a half step higher for the Mozart, and both violin and viola soloists tune up a half step for the Stamitz. This recital is part of Caitlin’s dissertation on the role of the strategic use of scordatura in viola repertoire.
