David Neely Appointed to Solti Foundation Artistic and Awards Committee

Neely will help identify young conductors to receive career assistance and support.
David Neely, associate professor of conducting and ensembles and the director of the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, has been appointed to the Artistic and Awards Committee of the prestigious Solti Foundation U.S., effective immediately. In this role, Neely will help identify and support emerging young conductors as they launch their classical careers.
The Solti Foundation has provided annual support to young conductors 38 and under since 2003, with over $1M awarded through grants and residencies. Previous recipients include SOM alum John Gennaro Devlin D.M.A. ’15, Jonathan Heyward, Lina Gonzalez Granados and Kensho Watanabe.
