Bio: Edward Maclary led the UMD Chamber Singers to international renown, winning top prizes in major competitions, and touring throughout the world. The UMD Concert Choir became the partner of choice for both the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Alumni of UMD’s graduate conducting program hold professional and academic conducting positions around the country and its ensemble alumni populate many top professional choruses and all our nation’s military choirs. Maclary has conducted numerous All-State and Honor Choirs and taught at institutions such as the Indiana University School of Music, the Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College. From 2014 through 2017 he was the Director of the Master Class in Conducting at the Oregon Bach Festival. He has served as the chorus master for conductors such as Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling, Gianandrea Noseda, Christoph Eschenbach, Iván Fischer, Andris Nelsons, Marin Alsop, Donald Runnicles, Nathalie Stutzmann and Nicholas McGegan, among many others.
